Director of Player Development - Aaron Roy

Aaron Roy began his soccer career as a youth in the Warren Youth Soccer League at the age of 4. He remained there and played on one of WYSL’s first travel teams, the Warren Crusaders. After many league and tournament championships, he left at the age of 13 and joined the SCSC Silver Bullets playing in the Little Caesars Premier Soccer League. In 1997, Aaron played a pivotal role in convincing the Madison Heights Lamphere High School board and administration to fund a soccer program, which had never been a thought in their minds prior to his intervention. Ironically he scored the school’s first ever goal in their first win, 1-0. He captained the Rams for their first three seasons, playing every game on the road due to the lack of a home field and compiled a 34-18-2 record. During the last year of his youth club soccer career he joined the Sterling Mustangs and won a Little Caesars Elite Championship.

After high school, Aaron began working full time in the family construction business while attending Macomb Community College and coaching/training teams all over Metro-Detroit. In 2006, Aaron was called upon to fill a void in the Oakland University Soccer Club midfield. That season he led the team in assists, won a MDSL Championship and was sent to the MDSL All-Star game where he scored the lone goal for his side. Afterwards, he decided that his playing career was done and decided to fully dedicate his efforts to teaching the game.

In 2007, Clawson Youth Soccer began negotiations with Coach Roy to join them as their Director of Player Development. He soon after accepted their offer and departed with his prior club, Madison FC where he was the Director of Coaching.

Aaron says he is “Happy with where he is at with Clawson Youth Soccer”, and “the support of the CYS board and their dedication to club and player development is undeniable.”
